An unusually hot and dry Fall has delayed some of the usual seasonal cues, but now it is undeniable; Memoria has arrived once again.
We actually began our observances very early by taking part in the annual Sacred Harvest event at Sky Meadow in Vermont.

… and we’ve just returned from an anniversary vacation that began with the Nightfall immersive art experience at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NYC …

… followed by a return visit, seven years later, to the similarly phantasmagorical Musée Patamécanique in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Our driving route took us through many miles of indescribably beautiful East Coast forest, currently painted in every conceivable hue from green through to scarlet …

… and – unplanned, but welcome – we were privileged with an opportunity to pay our respects at the Sandy Hook Permanent Memorial:

Our final destination was the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, near the town of Wappingers Falls in the Hudson River Valley. We stayed overnight in the Grey House – an 1860s mansion renovated as B&B accommodation, with lecture halls, libraries and numerous art shrines. Representing the life’s work of artists Alex and Allyson Grey, CoSM also includes Entheon – a combination temple and art gallery containing what is probably the most significant collection of psychedelic and visionary art in the USA.

On the return flight we watched the movie The Life of Chuck, which is now the latest addition to the Mysterium canon:
As I look back over these experiences over the past month, and especially the past few days, I’m aware of a sense of gratitude and of immense, incalculable luck. To be alive at all, in good health, to have the means (albeit only just) and – perhaps most importantly – the motivation to seek out beauty and mystery and adventure in present times is a gift, indeed.
More to come as we proceed through the most magical season of the year.
